Starbound Theatre Captivates Audiences with Aladdin Jr. Production

After weeks of meticulous preparation, the students of Starbound Theatre took local audiences on a magical journey as they brought the enchanting story of Disney's Aladdin Jr. to the stage of the Vacaville Performing Arts Theater. The junior version of the beloved tale captivated audiences, showcasing the exceptional talent and dedication of the young performers.

Unleashing the Magic of Aladdin Jr. on the Local Stage

A Whole New World of Theatrical Excellence

The Starbound Theatre's production of Aladdin Jr. was a true testament to the hard work and passion of the young performers. Under the skilled direction of David Rodgers Jr., and with the choreography of Brittany Wason and music direction of Vivian McLaughlin, the youth production brought the classic Disney story to life in a captivating and visually stunning manner. "Everything about the show is snazzy," enthused 16-year-old Rex Vargas, who played the role of the Genie. "It's a complete showstopper."

Bringing the Disney Classic to the Stage

The junior version of Aladdin was adapted from the Disney Broadway production and the beloved motion picture, offering a unique and engaging interpretation of the timeless tale. Audiences were transported to the vibrant world of Agrabah, following the adventures of Aladdin and his three friends – Babkak, Omar, and Kassim – as they navigate the challenges of their circumstances until Aladdin discovers a magic lamp and is granted three wishes. Driven by his desire to earn the respect of the beautiful Princess Jasmine, Aladdin embarks on a thrilling journey that tests his will and moral character.

A Summer Theatre Camp Cultivating Young Talent

The Aladdin Jr. production was the culmination of a three-week Summer Theatre Camp organized by Starbound Theatre. More than 50 students, ranging from 6 to 18 years old, from across Solano County, participated in the camp, attending intensive all-day classes and rehearsals to prepare for the four 90-minute performances held over the course of two days. "I enjoy connecting with my cast mates and the magic of performing on stage," shared 14-year-old Adryanna Pabalate, who portrayed the role of Jasmine.

Fostering a Culture of Collaboration and Teamwork

Starbound Theatre has been providing opportunities for Solano County students to explore the world of theater since 2003. The organization prioritizes the entire rehearsal process, emphasizing the development of each production and fostering a culture of collaboration and teamwork among its students. "At Starbound Theatre, we prioritize the entire rehearsal process, emphasizing the development of each production and fostering a culture of collaboration and teamwork among our students," said Veronica Montemayor, the Company Manager. "We pride ourselves on being inclusive of all levels and abilities, offering monthly classes in acting, music, dance, and more for students looking to hone their skills and explore their passion for the arts."

Expanding Horizons and Showcasing Talents

Starbound Theatre's programs have grown significantly over the past few years, now offering an intensive theatrical academy program, free community workshops, after-school programs, entry-level theater classes, Broadway Masterclasses, summer camps, and a student director program. In addition to their regular classes, the organization also provides unique travel opportunities for students to showcase their talents and expand their horizons beyond Solano County. "Each year, our students eagerly participate in the Junior Theatre Festival in Sacramento, showcasing their talents and learning from industry professionals," said Montemayor. "Every other year, we have the privilege of performing and engaging in workshops through Disney Performing Arts at Disneyland."

Upcoming Production: Peter Pan Jr.

Starbound Theatre is currently enrolling children ages 6-18 for their upcoming production of "Peter Pan Jr.," which will run from November 14-16. An audition workshop and parent information meeting will be held on September 7, from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Rehearsals will be held on Wednesday evenings and Saturdays from September 11 until November 16.
