The Hollywood Reporter made a significant announcement on Tuesday. Jennifer Lawrence will take the lead in presenting scholarships at THR's annual Women in Entertainment breakfast gala, which will be held on Dec. 4 in Los Angeles. This event, presented by Lifetime, holds great importance for the entertainment industry and the future of young women.

Jennifer Lawrence's Previous Involvement

Lawrence previously accepted the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award at this same event in 2017. Her continued participation showcases her commitment to supporting women in entertainment. She will now present alongside Amanda Zurawski, the lead plaintiff in the important Zurawski v. State of Texas lawsuit. This lawsuit, spotlighted in the 2024 documentary feature film, follows a group of women who fought for their reproductive rights.Lawrence serves as one of the executive producers on the film, which had its world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival and has won numerous accolades at various festivals. It is a powerful story that highlights the determination of these women.

Producing with Malala Yousafzai

Lawrence, along with partner Justine Ciarrocchi and their production company Excellent Cadaver, also produced Bread & Roses. This film premiered at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival and provides a deep look into the impact on women's lives after the fall of Kabul to the Taliban in 2022. Directed by Sahra Mani, it will be released worldwide on Apple TV+ on Nov. 22.Bread & Roses was the first documentary under the Excellent Cadaver banner, with Zurawski v. Texas following shortly after, demonstrating their diverse range of projects.

Scholarship Details

At the gala, four full-ride university scholarships worth more than million will be handed out. The Chuck Lorre Family Foundation is providing two scholarships, one to Chapman University and one to Loyola Marymount University. This is the ninth year TCLFF has underwritten scholarships for the program, providing over million in scholarships to date. The National Association of Theater Owners California Nevada will underwrite its third scholarship to Chapman University. Writer-EP Melissa Blake will gift a scholarship to Loyola Marymount University.Lifetime has been a partner of the Women in Entertainment Mentorship Program since its inception and contributes to the general scholarship fund, ensuring each mentee receives a ,000 scholarship. A+E Networks, Lifetime's parent company, is producing a short film to highlight the mentorship program and has contributed over .5 million in support over the past seven years.The scholarships are awarded to high school seniors participating in THR's mentorship program, which pairs bright girls from underserved communities in Los Angeles with powerful female executives. The gala will be attended by approximately 30 high school juniors and seniors. The mentorship program, launched with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles and a fiscally sponsored fund of the Entertainment Industry Foundation, will celebrate its 15th anniversary.

The Golden Globe Foundation continues its support with a multiyear grant of ,000 annually through 2025 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles.Best Buy has renewed its partnership with the Women in Entertainment Mentorship Program, providing access to the Los Angeles Community Impact Hub for teens. The Community Impact Hub offers a talent pipeline for the mentorship program.
